And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Murphy MacManus!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacManus stuffs the takedown attempt from Bridges. Bridges gets slowly back to his feet.
MacManus is looking to clinch.
Bridges takes one to the chin there.
MacManus avoids the body shot from Bridges.

Bridges scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Bridges misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Bridges creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Bridges fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Bridges trying to control the action but MacManus is working from the bottom.
MacManus tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bridges wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

MacManus parries the strikes from Bridges easily there. Bridges is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable MacManus to escape.

Bridges has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bridges tries for a kimura but MacManus is defending well.
Bridges misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bridges tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but MacManus was well out of range. Poor timing from Bridges.
MacManus throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bridges shoots in looking for a takedown. MacManus tries to sprawl out of it but Bridges keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. MacManus manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
MacManus stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and MacManus wants it to stay on the feet.

Bridges fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. MacManus sprawls well initially but Bridges persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
MacManus has his hands clasped together around Bridges's back. He's all about the action.
Bridges landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

MacManus tries to lock up and control but Bridges gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
MacManus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bridges. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

MacManus is trying desperately to improve position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bridges tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Bridges unloads with some shots from mount but MacManus bucks and avoids them well.
MacManus is squirming around, avoiding Bridges's attempts to control the action.
MacManus is wriggling around trying to escape.
Bridges trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Bridges lands with some strikes.

Bridges tries to control but MacManus wriggling away.
Leon Bridges overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


MacManus throws a right and a left that Bridges avoids nicely.
MacManus missing with a left hand there. Bridges was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Bridges takes a swing at MacManus's ribcage but misses.

Bridges has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by MacManus after a bit of a struggle.
MacManus is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Bridges shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. MacManus defends it nicely.

Bridges drops down looking for an ankle pick but MacManus pulls his leg out and moves away.

MacManus tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bridges paws at him with a jab and circles away.

MacManus tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Bridges manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
MacManus takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Bridges lands with a hook. MacManus tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
The fighters circle momentarily. Bridges darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Bridges lands a nice shot to the body.
Leon Bridges is winning the standup battle so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

enabling Bridges to counter with a crisp jab.

Bridges closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bridges wants to lay and pray for a moment but MacManus keeps working.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if MacManus can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bridges, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
