Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jay Benjamin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnnie Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Walker's choice of entrance music: Rock you Like A Hurricane. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Benjamin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnnie Walker!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Walker decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Walker slips under a jab.
Walker throws a low kick, looking for Benjamin's leg but Benjamin calmly moves out of range.
Walker throws a left that rocks Benjamin and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Walker dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Benjamin regain composure!


Benjamin is rocked!
Benjamin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Walker on the ground.
Walker moves into full mount!
Oh Benjamin is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Walker with the ground and pound from mount.
Walker breaks from Benjamin's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Walker decides to return to a standing position.
Benjamin throws a hook to the side of Walker's head but Walker sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Walker throws a series of punches but Benjamin moves out of range.
Benjamin lands with a nice combination. Walker backs away looking to recover.
Walker misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Walker shoots in but Benjamin avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Walker wants to take a breather but Benjamin is having none of it.
Benjamin is looking to escape.

Benjamin is trying to stand up here but Walker is controlling him well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Walker takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Benjamin throws a hook to the side of Walker's head but Walker sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Benjamin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Walker closes the distance and clinches up with Benjamin, looking for a takedown. Walker pushes Benjamin against the cage but Benjamin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Walker counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Walker winds up and cracks Benjamin with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Walker is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Benjamin has managed to free his arm - good work.
Benjamin is looking to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Walker is looking for a kimura but Benjamin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Walker to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnnie Walker dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Benjamin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Walker is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Walker wants to pass to mount but Benjamin is defending the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

It looks like Johnnie Walker has been cut.
Walker slips under a jab from Benjamin.

Walker shoots for a double leg takedown but Benjamin sprawls well. He's pushed Walker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Walker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Benjamin is looking to work some ground and pound but Walker has wrist control.

Benjamin sneaks out the side door and pushes Walker away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Walker shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Benjamin's guard.
