The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miantrekes Stovelis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Alves looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Miantrekes Stovelis is taking a breather. Alves says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Miantrekes Stovelis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Miantrekes Stovelis lands a nice short elbow.
Miantrekes Stovelis stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Miantrekes Stovelis misses with a straight left.
Miantrekes Stovelis closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Alves's guard.
Alves is working an open guard so Miantrekes Stovelis takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Miantrekes Stovelis pulls guard effortlessly.

Miantrekes Stovelis wants to sweep here but Alves controlling him for the moment.
Miantrekes Stovelis is pulling down on Alves's head. It's preventing any offense from Alves, at least for the moment.
Miantrekes Stovelis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alves's guard.
Miantrekes Stovelis slips nicely into half guard.
Miantrekes Stovelis seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

It looks like Miantrekes Stovelis might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Miantrekes Stovelis lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Alves is bucking up trying to escape but Miantrekes Stovelis cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Miantrekes Stovelis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Miantrekes Stovelis is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Alves can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
