Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Crash Archangel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saku Katsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Crash Archangel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Saku Katsumoto!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Archangel fails with the takedown.
Katsumoto dives in and grabs Archangel's left leg, looking for a takedown. Archangel pushes down on Katsumoto's head and hops out.
Archangel moves out of range as Katsumoto strikes.
Katsumoto misses the shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Archangel throws a chopping leg kick but Katsumoto manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Katsumoto misses with a double jab
and Archangel connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Katsumoto throws a lazy head kick

and Archangel counters with a shoot takedown. Katsumoto fights it but they end up in guard.

Katsumoto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Archangel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Katsumoto looking to hit a scissor sweep but Archangel is one step ahead there.
Archangel wants to control from the top but Katsumoto keeps moving.
Archangel content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Archangel won't allow Katsumoto to sweep him here.

Archangel postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Archangel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Katsumoto has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Archangel has managed to get both his arms back between Katsumoto's legs - danger averted.
Archangel stands and throws Katsumoto's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Katsumoto tries to bench press Archangel off him but Archangel keeps the position.
Katsumoto takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Katsumoto gets back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Katsumoto is trying to get back to full guard.
Katsumoto is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Archangel's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Archangel's back!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Katsumoto working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Archangel is trying to break free.

Archangel is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Katsumoto has the hooks in. Archangel is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Katsumoto doesn't have the hooks in and Archangel manages to turn into his guard.

Katsumoto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Archangel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Archangel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Katsumoto looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Archangel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Katsumoto swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Katsumoto looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Archangel chips away with some ground and pound.

Katsumoto has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Archangel doesn't defend quickly enough and Katsumoto has managed to lock this one up! Can Archangel escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Katsumoto on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Saku Katsumoto!
After winning the bout, Saku Katsumoto thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
