Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Vortex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Tyson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with John Vortex's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Vortex!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Tyson!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vortex throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tyson's waist but Tyson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vortex off to one side.
Vortex shoots in looking for a takedown. Tyson tries to sprawl out of it but Vortex keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tyson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Tyson tries to clinch but Vortex is having none of it.

Tyson rushes Vortex and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Tyson is trying to break the clinch but Vortex has him pressed against the cage.
Vortex goes for a takedown attempt but Tyson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Vortex. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tyson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vortex tries to avoid it but Tyson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vortex to the ground. Vortex escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Vortex misses with a body shot.
No luck for Tyson with that takedown attempt.
Tyson scores with a three punch combo!
No luck for Vortex with that takedown attempt.

Tyson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Vortex!

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Tyson has hold of Vortex's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Vortex manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
You get the feeling that Vortex really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Vortex is squirming around, avoiding Tyson's attempts to control the action.

Tyson working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Vortex bucks up and throws Tyson to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

Vortex shoots in for a takedown but Tyson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A telegraphed right hand from Vortex misses the target.
Vortex closes the distance and clinches up with Tyson, looking for a takedown. Vortex pushes Tyson against the cage but Tyson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Vortex throws a right hand that misses
and Tyson counters with a good, hard body kick but Vortex shrugs it off.
Vortex shoots in for a takedown but Tyson shows good takedown defense.
John Vortex seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab from Vortex misses.
Tyson moves out of range of the strikes.
Vortex is breathing heavily.
Vortex fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Tyson lands a jab-cross combination.

Vortex misses with a looping right.
Vortex shoots in looking for a takedown. Tyson tries to sprawl out of it but Vortex keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tyson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Tyson keeps Vortex at a distance using the push kick.
A left and a right from Tyson both land. Nice combination.
Tyson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Tyson doesn't manage to clinch there - Vortex circles away.
Vortex shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tyson as he avoids it easily.
Tyson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vortex avoids it really well and circles away.
Vortex fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Tyson throws a head kick that Vortex semi-blocks.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tyson scores with a head kick. Vortex tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Vortex is looking to clinch but Tyson is avoiding it.
Tyson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Vortex manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Vortex looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tyson is fending him off so far but Vortex persists. Nope, Tyson circles away and we're back to standing.
Tyson wants to clinch up but Vortex keeps it at a distance.
Tyson misses with a takedown attempt - Vortex sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Vortex changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tyson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vortex is staying tight to Tyson's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Tyson can't do much from the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Tyson dominated that round.
That's time! Vortex's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Vortex dives in and scores a takedown into Tyson's guard.
Vortex's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vortex prevents Tyson from getting back to his feet.
Vortex slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Vortex drops back looking for a leg! Tyson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tyson manages to kick Vortex off! Vortex jumps back into Tyson's guard.
Tyson wants to get back to his feet but Vortex is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Tyson is breathing heavily.

Vortex is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Vortex trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Vortex missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Tyson has his foot on Vortex's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vortex works his way back into a safe position though.
Vortex controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Vortex's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Vortex trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Vortex engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of John Vortex.

Vortex shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Vortex showed some decent athleticism there.

Vortex is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Vortex working over Tyson with some ground and pound. Tyson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Vortex looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Tyson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Vortex pulls his head out easily.
Well, if Vortex is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Vortex tries to stand but can't do so whilst Tyson controls his leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Vortex dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Vortex shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tyson as he avoids it easily.

so Vortex counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Tyson is trying to keep Vortex in close.
Vortex controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Vortex advances to half guard.
Tyson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Vortex is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Vortex lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Vortex seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
John Vortex overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

John Vortex has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Vortex tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Vortex shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Vortex not doing much here.

Tyson wants to improve his position but Vortex is controlling well.
Vortex sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Vortex thows a huge punch but Tyson dodges it nicely.

Vortex shoots in and bounces Tyson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Vortex works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Vortex looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

John Vortex showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Vortex has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking John Vortex rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
