The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping leg kick lands for Steele.
Montain fails with an attempt to clinch.
Montain avoids the body shot from Steele.
Steele blocks a head kick by Montain.
Steele circles away from the clinch attempt
and Steele counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Steele gets caught napping as Montain dives in and scores a takedown. Steele manages to retain guard.

Steele is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Steele holds on and takes a little breather.
Montain wants to stand and escape but instead Steele has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Steele wanted to stand there but Montain had control of the position.

Steele stands up from Montain's guard - Steele perhaps looking for a knockout.
Montain wants to clinch up but Steele keeps it at a distance.
Nice takedown defense from Steele. No joy for Montain on that attempt.
Montain misses with a takedown attempt - Steele sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Dan Steele has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emerson Montain.

Montain on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Montain closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Montain throws a series of punches but Steele avoids them all with ease.
Steele lands a head shot.
Steele feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Montain's calf.
Emerson Montain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steele connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Montain is rocked!
Montain stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Steele.
A left lands for Steele.
Montain is still on wobbly legs! Can Steele finish him?
Montain walks into a straight right hand from Steele.
Steele looks to score with a jab to the body but Montain is just out of range.
Steele lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Montain seems to have recovered his senses.
Montain gets cracked there but stands up to it.
No luck for Montain with that takedown attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Steele lands a big uppercut and Montain crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Montain looks OK. Steele waves Montain back to his feet!
Steele bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Montain's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Steele dominated that round.

Montain throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Montain tries to clinch but Steele is having none of it.

Montain tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Steele paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Emerson Montain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Montain shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Steele as he jumps to the side.

It looks like Dan Steele has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Steele! Montain is out on his feet! Steele rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Montain is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Montain is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

In his post fight interview, Dan Steele started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
