Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Davey Steeves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harvey Prince (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harvey Prince acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Davey Steeves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Harvey Prince!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab by Steeves.
Steeves misses with a body kick.
Prince finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Prince throws a body punch but Steeves moves out of range.
Steeves shoots in and drives through. Prince sprawls well.
Prince is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Steeves closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Prince to the mat! Prince manages to get full guard.
Steeves scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Steeves engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Prince keeping moving, preventing Steeves from controlling successfully.
Steeves lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Steeves is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Steeves is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Prince tries to buck Steeves off but Steeves is having none of it.
Steeves is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Prince's shoulder. That is not cool.

Steeves thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Steeves has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Prince is trying to control Steeves's posture but Steeves avoids it.

Steeves is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Prince will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Check out the look on Steeves's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The referee asks Steeves politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Steeves prefers to stall for the moment though.
Prince is trying to control Steeves's posture but Steeves avoids it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Prince pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Steeves shoots in and gets a takedown into Prince's guard.
Steeves controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Prince wants to control but Steeves passes easily into half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Steeves is taking a breather. Prince says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Steeves seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Prince for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Prince uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Steeves.

Prince lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Steeves circles away quickly and effectively.
Prince chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Prince feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Steevess jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Steeves works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Steeves wants to pass the guard but Prince is defending well.
Steeves lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Steeves is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Prince defends it well.

Steeves is trying to control. Prince wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Steeves looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Prince with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well, if Steeves is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Davey Steeves just wasn't active enough.
Prince stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Prince wants it to stay on the feet.

Steeves slips a nice elbow through Prince's hands, connecting with Prince's forehead.

Steeves is looking for a kimura but Prince is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Steeves to get the leverage.
Steeves is looking to take a break and control but Prince is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Steeves throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Prince tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Steeves is in Prince's guard.

Prince is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Steeves defends well.

Prince leaves Steeves with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Steeves throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Prince's waist but Prince gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Steeves off to one side.

Prince lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Steeves circles away quickly and effectively.

Prince does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Horrible takedown by Steeves or perhaps it was just good defense by Prince which made him look bad.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Steeves, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
