PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Saymon Saymon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Marsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saymon is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Randy Marsh will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Randy Marsh!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marsh tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Saymon counters with a nice double leg into side control. Marsh won't be happy with that.
Saymon is breathing heavily.
Marsh wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Saymon controlling from side mount.

Saymon wants to control but Marsh is keeping him busy.
Marsh is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Saymon is controlling him well.
Saymon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Saymon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Marsh pushes Saymon away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Saymon gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Marsh tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Marsh wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Marsh is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

That was a close round but I would say that Saymon Saymon will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Marsh is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Marsh fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Saymon, pushing him back against the cage.
Saymon takes a knee to the side of the body.
Marsh misses with a knee strike.
Marsh creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Marsh lands a nice elbow.
Saymon tries to score a body lock takedown but Marsh shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Marsh misses with a knee strike.
Marsh throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Saymon blocks it with crossed arms.
Marsh misses with an elbow strike.
Marsh lands an elbow inside that Saymon shrugs off.
Marsh throws an elbow that misses.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Saymon tightens his grip and picks Marsh up, before dumping him to the ground. Marsh manages to land in guard.

Marsh is looking to stand back up but Saymon counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Marsh.
Marsh tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Saymon manages to move to mount!
Marsh is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Marsh has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Saymon is looking for the choke from the back position but Marsh is controlling his hands well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Marsh is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Saymon has his opponent's back but Marsh is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Saymon.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Marsh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and Saymon counters with a single leg into guard. Marsh didn't expect that.
Saymon wants to stand but Marsh has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Marsh wants to stand but Saymon is controlling the position.
Marsh wants to get back to his feet but Saymon passes into half guard.
Marsh is not content to let Saymon control the position.
Saymon prevents Marsh from standing back up.

Marsh kicks off Saymon and gets to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

and Saymon counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Marsh's guard now.
Marsh wants to get back to his feet but Saymon is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Saymon trying to control but Marsh is working from the bottom.
Marsh is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Saymon is controlling him.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Saymon drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Saymon jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Saymon decides to stand back up.
Marsh looks to clinch

and Saymon counters with a nice double leg into side control. Marsh won't be happy with that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Marsh bucks up and tries to throw Saymon off but instead Saymon has got his back!

Saymon scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Marsh is looking for a way out.
Marsh controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
