PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between ben ahr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Fowler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jacob Fowler was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fowler slips under a jab.
ahr shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

ahr instigates a clinch.

Fowler manages to break the clinch.

Fowler slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fowler remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Fowler has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Fowler changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. ahr looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

ahr regains half guard there - taking advantage of Fowler's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Fowler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. ahr is working away from the top position though.

ahr seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fowler does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Fowler is looking for a sweep. ahr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

ahr tries to keep at a distance but Fowler has taken the fight into the clinch.

ahr goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Fowler is on top in guard.
Fowler throws a strike but ahr rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

ahr drops back, looking for a kneebar! Fowler looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Fowler looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Fowler!
ahr gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

ahr gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
ahr utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fowler gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fowler drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Fowler wants to get up but he can't break ahr's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

ahr is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

ahr is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Fowler throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Fowler wants to control from the top but ahr keeps moving.
Fowler won't allow ahr to sweep him here.

ahr had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Fowler is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. ahr Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Fowler's back instead.
