PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Darth Vader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Hearns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vader comes to the cage accompanied by Imperial March. Hearns has chosen System Of a Down - Chop Suey! as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vader shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hearns sprawls well. Hearns wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Vader gets slowly back to his feet.

and Hearns counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Hearns lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Vader is defended easily by Hearns.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Vader. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hearns, as that shot connected.
Vader takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hearns throws a combination. Vader tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Hearns lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Vader might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

Hearns lands a left and a right that send Vader crashing to the mat, dazed. Hearns thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Oh Vader is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Vader gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Hearns gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Vader is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Tommy Hearns was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
