The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hopo loads up on a big right hand but Muromets slips the punch.
Hopo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Muromets moves away.
Muromets with a jab.
Hopo misses with a right hand

and Muromets counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hopo won't be happy with that.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hopo sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Muromets seems to be working for a kimura but Hopo defends the submission attempt.

Hopo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Hopo is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Hopo keeping moving, preventing Muromets from controlling successfully.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Muromets throws an elbow that misses. Hopo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Muromets's guard. Nice move by Hopo!

Muromets controls Hopo momentarily but Hopo frees himself.
Hopo looking to sit in guard and control but Muromets gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hopo is pulling down on Muromets's head to control his posture.
Muromets trying to control the position from guard on top but Hopo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hopo wants to sweep but no luck.
Muromets wants to control from the top but Hopo keeps moving.
Hopo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Muromets is one step ahead there.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Muromets wants to pass the guard but Hopo is keeping the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. ILja Muromets hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Muromets throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hopo's waist but Hopo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Muromets off to one side.

and Hopo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hopo misses with a looping left.
Hopo throws out a loose jab but Muromets uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hopo throws a hook but Muromets avoids it easily.
Hopo throws a big shot that misses.
Muromets throws a body punch but Hopo moves out of range.
Hopo is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Muromets's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Muromets shoots in looking for a takedown. Hopo tries to sprawl out of it but Muromets keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Hopo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hessu Hopo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of ILja Muromets.
Muromets uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hopo.

and Hopo counters with a left to the body.
Muromets gets cracked there but stands up to it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hopo steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Muromets is out on his feet! Hopo sets himself and nearly takes Muromets's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
