Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karsten Hemler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bart Smart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karsten Hemler has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Karsten Hemler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bart Smart!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hemler shoots in looking for a takedown. Smart tries to sprawl out of it but Hemler keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smart manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Hemler clinches up against the cage.
Smart tries to land a knee to the head but Hemler blocks with his arms.
Smart is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hemler gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Smart is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hemler can't fight it off and eventually Smart manages to take the fight to the floor. Hemler looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Smart gets to his feet. Hemler looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Smart wants to clinch up but Hemler keeps it at a distance.
A head kick misses from Smart.
Smart will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Hemler gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Smart wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hemler has him pressed against the cage.

Hemler manages to break the clinch.
Hemler fails to land the takedown.

Hemler closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Hemler is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Smart is refusing to be controlled, as Hemler sits in half guard.
Smart is trying to stand up here but Hemler is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hemler decides to stand and escape the position.
Hemler looks for a takedown but Smart sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Karsten Hemler. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hemler is breathing heavily.
Hemler throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smart's waist but Smart gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hemler off to one side.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hemler circles away from the clinch attempt

and Hemler counters with a single leg into guard. Smart didn't expect that.
Smart is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hemler is working Smart over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Hemler is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Smart is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Smart has escaped and now he's on top!
Smart tries to stand but Hemler is controlling from the bottom.

Hemler wants to sweep but no luck.

Hemler working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smart doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smart manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Smart wanted to stand there but Hemler had control of the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hemler had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Smart is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hemler Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Smart's back instead.
Smart trying to get back to his feet but Hemler is in full control for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Smart counters with a nice kick to the body.
Hemler is looking to clinch.
Hemler fails with an attempt to clinch.
Karsten Hemler is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hemler throws a right hand that Smart ducks under and follows up with a left that Smart also avoids with ease.

Hemler drives through and clinches with Smart against the cage.
Hemler wants a takedown.
Smart lands a knee to the head.
Smart misses with a knee strike.
Hemler prevents a takedown attempt there.
Hemler tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Smart smiles and moves away.

Hemler shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Smart's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Smart manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Smart shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Hemler working a defensive guard here.

Hemler looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Hemler throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Smart escapes and throws Hemler's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Smart stands up and beckons Hemler to his feet.
Hemler circles away from the clinch attempt.

Smart stuffs the takedown attempt from Hemler. Hemler gets slowly back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Smart looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hemler fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Hemler changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smart tries to avoid it but Hemler manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smart to the ground. Smart escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hemler looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smart is fending him off so far but Hemler persists. Nope, Smart circles away and we're back to standing.
Smart throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Smart shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Smart is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hemler gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Hemler manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hemler not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Hemler is looking for a triangle but Smart pushes his legs off easily.

Hemler could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Smart decides to take the fight back to the feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hemler has his takedown stuffed

and Smart counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Bart Smart has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hemler wants to control but Smart passes into side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bart Smart showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Hemler rushes Smart and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Smart fails to pull guard.

Hemler pulls Smart into guard.
Smart tries to stand but Hemler is controlling from the bottom.
Hemler will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Smart wants to get up but he can't break Hemler's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Hemler manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smart manages to get himself to full guard.
Hemler controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Smart takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hemler gets to his feet - Smart follows without any prompting.

Some wild striking there from Hemler.
Smart doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Hemler counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Smart really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hemler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Smart is looking to escape.
Smart regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Hemler.

Smart uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Bart Smart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smart closes the distance but Hemler moves to the side

and Hemler counters by clinching up.

Smart prevents Hemler from improving his position.

Smart blocks the strikes from Hemler.
Hemler is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Smart jumps into side control!

Hemler tries for a takedown but Smart sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Hemler shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hemler was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Smart is bucking up trying to escape but Hemler cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Smart squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Hemler stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Hemler darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Smart blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hemler.

Hemler scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Hemler prevents Smart from standing back up.
Hemler tries to pass to full mount but Smart defends it.
Hemler frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Smart is trying to stand.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smart avoids a series of strikes thrown by Hemler.

And that's the end of the fight!
Karsten Hemler showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hemler has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
