PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hadrian Barret (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arslan Handukic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Hadrian Barret has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Hadrian Barret seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Hadrian Barret!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, Arslan Handukic!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barret closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Handukic did well to prevent Barret getting side control.

Handukic is looking to escape.
Handukic keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barret controlling the pace.
Barret throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barret not doing much here.
Barret seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Handukic for as long as he can get away with.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Hadrian Barret.
Handukic is looking to clinch but Barret is avoiding it.
Hadrian Barret seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Handukic tries to clinch but Barret is having none of it.

Barret successfully pulls guard.

Barret throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Barret not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Barret working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Handukic has passed into half guard!

Handukic is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Barret tries to roll over but Handukic keeps him under control.
Barret is trying to stand.

Handukic tries to stand and escape but Barret is controlling the position.
Barret trying to control but Handukic postures up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Barret gets full guard.

Barret is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Handukic is aware though and is defending well.
Barret is trying to control the position but Handukic postures up.

Barret has his foot on Handukic's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Handukic works his way back into a safe position though.
Handukic must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Handukic got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barret has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Handukic has managed to get both his arms back between Barret's legs - danger averted.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Barret seems keen to control Handukic's posture.
Handukic tries to stand but Barret is controlling from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Barret looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Handukic wants to stand but Barret has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hadrian Barret dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Handukic tries to close the distance and clinch up but Barret swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Handukic is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sloppy strikes from Barret. Those never looked like landing.
Barret throws a series of punches but Handukic avoids them all with ease.
Handukic avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well, if Barret is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Handukic tries to kick Barret off but Barret keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Barret lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Barret passes the guard and advances to mount!

Barret looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Barret fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


It looks like Arslan Handukic has been cut.
The referee warns Handukic that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Handukic is squirming around, avoiding Barret's attempts to control the action.
Handukic is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Handukic is breathing heavily.
Barret landing punches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Barret trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Barret is working for a guillotine from mount but Handukic frees his head quite easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Barret jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Handukic manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Barret working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Handukic wants to get back to his feet.
Barret is working Handukic over with some ground and pound from side control.


That has opened up Arslan Handukic's cut even more.
Handukic is trying to buck Barret off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Barret moves into full mount!

Barret is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Handukic has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Barret breaks from Handukic's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Barret looking for a guillotine from mount but Handukic is having none of it.
Barret controlling his opponent.
Barret scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Handukic's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Handukic is in a horrible position here. Barret smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.


The cut above Arslan Handukic's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Arslan Handukic's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Hadrian Barret!
