PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Zac Ogletree (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alex Silva will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zac Ogletree!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Silva!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ogletree.

Ogletree closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ogletree lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Silva is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ogletree is controlling him.
Silva is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Silva wriggles free and stands up.

Ogletree closes the distance and clinches.

Silva is looking to break free of the clinch but Ogletree has double underhooks.

Ogletree decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Silva, up you get!
Ogletree tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Silva paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Horrible takedown by Ogletree or perhaps it was just good defense by Silva which made him look bad.

Ogletree's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Silva feints a jab promting Ogletree to slip. Silva then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Ogletree slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silva throws a series of strikes that have Ogletree backpedaling.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch but Ogletree swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Ogletree decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Silva's guard.

Ogletree seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Ogletree has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Silva is looking to stand back up but Ogletree counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Silva.

Ogletree uses his free foot to push down on Silva's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Silva.

Ogletree can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Silva is looking to escape.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ogletree lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ogletree is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Silva defends well.

Silva drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ogletree looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ogletree looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ogletree!

Zac Ogletree overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Silva is pushing Ogletree's head away, looking to escape. Ogletree manages to hold on to the position though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva bucks up and tries to throw Ogletree off but instead Ogletree has got his back!

And that's the end of the fight!
Alex Silva comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Silva has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
