The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Malkowsky looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Malkowsky decides to stand up, so the ref orders Howard to his feet.

Malkowsky throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Howard tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Malkowsky is in Howard's guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Will Malkowsky wasn't active enough on the ground.

Howard changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Malkowsky looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Howard decides to stand back up. Howard steps back and let's Malkowsky get back to his feet.
Howard shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Malkowsky as he avoids it easily.

Malkowsky tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Howard was well out of range. Poor timing from Malkowsky.

Malkowsky closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Howard did well to prevent Malkowsky getting side control.
