Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kalyan Kumar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deshawn Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kalyan Kumar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Deshawn Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Alyssa Summers and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kumar scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jackson doesn't seem bothered though.

Jackson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kumar wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kumar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jackson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Jackson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Jackson shoots in and drives through. Kumar sprawls well.

Jackson shoots for a takedown but Kumar saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kalyan Kumar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Deshawn Jackson.
Kumar on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Jackson. Jackson obviously looking to wear him down.

Kumar lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Jackson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jackson lands in his opponent's guard.
Jackson wants to control from the top but Kumar keeps moving.

Kumar escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Deshawn Jackson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A left lands for Kumar.
Jackson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kumar stuffs the takedown attempt from Jackson. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Kumar lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Jackson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kumar's waist but Kumar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jackson off to one side.
Kalyan Kumar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Deshawn Jackson.

Kumar fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jackson on the side of the head.
Jackson slips a straight right by Kumar.
Kumar ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Kumar scores with a hook to the body. Jackson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Kalyan Kumar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jackson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kumar pulls his leg out and moves away.

Jackson shoots for a double leg takedown but Kumar sprawls well. He's pushed Jackson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kumar throws a hook to the side of Jackson's head but Jackson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kumar is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kumar tries to bum rush Jackson with a series of wild strikes but Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kumar bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jackson's head.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Jackson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kumar swivels and escapes.

Kumar wants to hold on but Jackson pushes him away.
Kumar is in all sorts of trouble here.
Kumar is in a horrible position here. Jackson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Jackson prevents Kumar from getting the reversal.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kumar is working to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kumar tries to lock up and control but Jackson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Jackson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Kumar tries to hold on but Jackson pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kumar is desperately trying to improve his position but Jackson has a good base and remains in mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kumar manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Kumar keeping control of the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Deshawn Jackson.
I think Jackson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
