The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matters circles away from the clinch attempt.
Matters misses with a head kick.

Moraes has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Moraes decides to stand up, so the ref orders Matters to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Despite being in the dominant position, Thiago Moraes just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Matters really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Moraes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Moraes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Moraes postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Matters to stand up.

Matters gets caught flat footed, as Moraes shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Matters shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Matters showed some decent athleticism there.

Moraes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Matters tries to close the distance and clinch but Moraes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Moraes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
