PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Sapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Huge Bum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Bum looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bum has a takedown stuffed.
Bum misses with a lunging right hand

and Sapp holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Bum is looking to break free of the clinch but Sapp has double underhooks.

Sapp breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Sapp counters by clinching up.
Bum should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Sapp blocks the elbow strike.

Sapp works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Bum looking for a sweep. Not yet Bum, not yet.
Sapp seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Bum manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Sapp is wriggling around trying to escape.

Bum jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Sapp manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Bum decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Bum tries to roll over but Sapp keeps him under control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sapp darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Sapp looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Sapp is looking for a kimura but Bum is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sapp to get the leverage.

Sapp wants to free his trapped foot but Bum is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Sapp closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bum did well to prevent Sapp getting side control.

Sapp passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bum!
The referee warns Bum that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Sapp wants to finish this one by submission but Bum is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Sapp.

Bum reaches up to try and control the position but Sapp seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Bum rolls and tries to escape and now Sapp has his back!
Bum is breathing heavily.
Bum manages to reverse the position and now he's in Sapp's guard. Nice work there by Bum.

Bum won't allow Sapp to get back to his feet.

Sapp is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Bum is trying to break free.
Bum tries to break the clinch but Sapp is controlling the position.

Sapp lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Bum wants to get back to full guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sapp passes the guard and advances to mount!

The referee warns Bum that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That has opened up Huge Bum's cut even more.
Sapp controlling his opponent.
Sapp has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Sapp's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Bum in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

The cut above Huge Bum's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Sapp controlling the pace for now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bum tries to hold on but Sapp pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Sapp dominated that second round.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Bum gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Bum keeping moving, preventing Sapp from controlling successfully.
Sapp postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bum wants to stand but Sapp is controlling his posture from full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sapp holds on and takes a little breather.
Sapp is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Bob Sapp overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bum trying to move into half guard but instead Sapp has managed to sweep!
Sapp working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sapp tries to free his leg and advance position but Bum is retaining full guard.

Bum working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sapp doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sapp manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bum wants to control the position but Sapp says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Sapp postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Bum to stand up.

Bum gets caught flat footed, as Sapp shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Sapp controls from within his opponent's guard.
Sapp slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Sapp has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Bum! Can he survive? No! He's out! Sapp gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
