And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stephen Vickers!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vickers tries to close the distance and clinch but Bojarov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Vickers moves into the clinch successfully.
Vickers with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Bojarov avoiding damage as Vickers throws knees to the body.
Vickers wants to break free but Bojarov has control.
Vickers putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Bojarov in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Bojarov goes for a takedown attempt but Vickers pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Vickers tries to clinch but Bojarov is having none of it.

Vickers drives through and clinches with Bojarov against the cage.
Vickers tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Bojarov avoids it.
Vickers looking to stall.
Vickers lands with a left to the head.

Vickers tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Vickers with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Vickers lands a knee to the head.
Bojarov has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Vickers is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Vickers tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Bojarov's elbow.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vickers can do anything to dispel that myth.

and Bojarov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vickers won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bojarov is looking to take a break and control but Vickers is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Vickers is looking to reverse the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vickers is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Bojarov is controlling him well.
Bojarov advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vickers is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Vickers tries to reverse the position but Bojarov maintains control.

Bojarov throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Vickers has his hands clasped together but Bojarov breaks the hold and Vickers is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Bojarov!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Aleksander Bojarov!
After the fight, Aleksander Bojarov was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
