Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Omar Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shalako Carlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Torres's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Tom Erba - Bring it on. Shalako Carlin is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Omar Torres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shalako Carlin!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Carlin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Carlin throws a nice looking combination but Torres bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Carlin clinches.

Carlin successfully pulls guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Carlin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Torres has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Torres wants to pass the guard but Carlin is keeping the position.
Carlin wants to control the position but Torres says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Torres is looking to pass Carlin's guard but actually Carlin recovers to full guard.

Omar Torres has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Carlin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Carlin fails with an attempt to clinch.

Torres changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carlin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on Carlin's face as Torres controls the position.
Carlin manages to get back to half guard.
Carlin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Torres is working away from the top position though.

Torres content to control rather than advance.
Carlin won't allow Torres to pass to mount.
Torres knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carlin on the ground.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Carlin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Carlin misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Carlin wants to stand but Torres has his arm trapped.

Torres tries for a takedown but Carlin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Carlin plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
The fight stays on the outside here - Carlin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Carlin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Shalako Carlin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carlin throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Carlin catches Torres with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Carlin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Torres swats him away and circles back towards the center.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Torres shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Carlin is looking to clinch but Torres is avoiding it.
Carlin lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Carlin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shalako Carlin dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Carlin shoots for a takedown but Torres saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Carlin misses with a takedown attempt - Torres sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Torres counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Carlin is trying to keep Torres in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Torres wants to control from the top but Carlin keeps moving.
Omar Torres overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Carlin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Carlin keeping full guard, as Torres tries to pass.

Torres got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carlin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Torres has managed to get both his arms back between Carlin's legs - danger averted.

Carlin wants to sweep but no luck.
Torres stops Carlin from standing up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Torres swats away the attempt to clinch by Carlin.

Torres darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Carlin is pressing down on Torres's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Torres avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Torres not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Torres wants to control from the top but Carlin keeps moving.
Torres makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Carlin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Torres manages to get himself to full guard.
Torres wants to stand up but Carlin is controlling him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Omar Torres will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Torres loads up on a big right hand but Carlin slips the punch.
Carlin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Torres missing with a left hand there. Carlin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Torres is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Carlin.
Carlin tries to close the distance and clinch but Torres swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Torres keeps the fight on the outside.

Torres drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Torres wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carlin keeps working.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carlin can't do much from the bottom here.

Torres is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Carlin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Carlin gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Carlin slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Omar Torres.

Torres feints and as Carlin raises his hands in defense, Torres changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Carlin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Torres's guard.

Carlin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Carlin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Torres, up you get!

Torres closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carlin is letting Torres control him for a moment.
Torres lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carlin regains half guard.
Torres wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carlin keeps working.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Omar Torres.
I think Torres has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
