PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sher Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Roy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Wood might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to It's a fight. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sher Wood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucas Roy!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood throws the kick towards the body but Roy avoids it.
Roy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Roy swats away the attempt to clinch by Wood.
Wood scores with a leg kick.
Wood stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wood wants it to stay on the feet.
Roy connects with a single shot there.
Roy displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Wood throws out the jab.
Roy throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Wood keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Wood swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Roy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Roy is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Wood has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Wood!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Roy is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Roy throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Wood escapes and throws Roy's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Roy is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Roy looking for a sweep but Wood has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Wood wants to finish this one by submission but Roy is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Wood.
Roy is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Wood is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Roy doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wood.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Wood throws a body kick that misses.

Roy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Wood throws a chopping leg kick but Roy manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Wood throws a shot from downtown. Roy moves away and avoids it.
Wood throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Roy throws out a loose jab but Wood uses good head movement to avoid it.

Roy checks the leg kick nicely there.
Roy cracks Wood with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Wood connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wood leaves Roy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Both fighters circling a little - Wood finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Roy misses with a wild body shot.
Wood throws a low kick but Roy moves out of range easily.

Wood paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Wood throws a leg kick but Roy sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Wood is really struggling to control Roy but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Roy drops back looking for a leg! Wood is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wood manages to kick Roy off! Roy jumps back into Wood's guard.
Roy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wood swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wood is looking to stand up but Roy isn't so interested in that idea.
Lucas Roy has got the better of the ground game so far.

I would just about give that final round to Lucas Roy.
I think Roy has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
