The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mabuva stuffs the takedown.
Dempsey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mabuva swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That was a close round but I would say that Cedric Mabuva will probably get the nod.

Mabuva changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dempsey looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Mabuva wants to clinch but Dempsey slips to the side
and Dempsey decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mabuva's guard.

Mabuva on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mabuva tries to get out of the position.
Dempsey gets to his feet. Mabuva looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Horrible takedown by Dempsey or perhaps it was just good defense by Mabuva which made him look bad.

Mabuva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dempsey, pushing him back against the cage.

Dempsey wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Dempsey blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Mabuva takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Mabuva jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dempsey walks away with a smile on his face. Mabuva gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mark Dempsey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We're going to have a standup here because Cedric Mabuva wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Dempsey fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mabuva avoids it really well and circles away.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Dempsey. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dempsey is defended easily by Mabuva.
And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Mark Dempsey.
I think Dempsey has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
