The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vulgar gets a takedown into half guard.

Vulgar looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bans with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Vulgar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bans tries to avoid it but Vulgar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bans to the ground. Bans escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Vulgar shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bans sprawls well. Bans wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Vulgar gets slowly back to his feet.

Bans tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vulgar paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Bans takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Bans tries to buck Vulgar off but Vulgar is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vulgar remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Vulgar has control of an arm but Bans manages to advance to Vulgar's back!
Bans will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
