PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Harkonnen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ren Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Wu-Tang Clan - Protect Ya Neck. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ren Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksandr Martynov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gracie keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Harkonnen scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Harkonnen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Gracies jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Gracie takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Gracie moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Harkonnen takes a swing at Gracie's ribcage but misses.
Harkonnen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gracie throws a solid leg kick but Harkonnen takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Gracie.
Gracie motions for Harkonnen to come forward. Gracie throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Harkonnen stuns Gracie with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Gracie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Harkonnen manages to avoid it.
Harkonnen misses the shot to the body.
Gracie takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Harkonnen moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Harkonnen moves in looking to clinch but Gracie pushes him off.
Ren Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Horrible takedown by Gracie or perhaps it was just good defense by Harkonnen which made him look bad.

and Harkonnen counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gracie thinking.
Gracie looks to land a left hand but Harkonnen moved out of range nicely.

and Harkonnen holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Harkonnen goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Harkonnen misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Gracie is trying to pull guard but Harkonnen has him pressed against the cage.

Gracie tightens his grip and picks Harkonnen up, before dumping him to the ground. Harkonnen manages to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Harkonnen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Harkonnen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Harkonnen!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Harkonnen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gracie knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Vladimir Harkonnen just wasn't active enough.

Gracie swings widly with a right hand
and Harkonnen counters with a stiff right hand.
Harkonnen throws a right and a left that Gracie avoids nicely.
Gracie fakes the leg kick and cracks Harkonnen in the body.
Harkonnen getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Gracie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Harkonnen tries to avoid it but Gracie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Harkonnen to the ground. Harkonnen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Vladimir Harkonnen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ren Gracie.
Gracie tries a head kick but it misses.

Harkonnen drives through and clinches with Gracie against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Gracie has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Harkonnen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Harkonnen as he avoids it easily.

Harkonnen is looking to wear down Gracie with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Gracie throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A lazy left from Harkonnen finds it's target.
Harkonnen lands a nice hook to Gracie's body. Gracie takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Gracie takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Vladimir Harkonnen is winning the standup battle so far.

No joy there for Gracie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That kick from Gracie tenderised Harkonnen's leg. Harkonnen is trying to keep his angry face on.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We're going to have a standup here because Vladimir Harkonnen wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Harkonnen.

Harkonnen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Harkonnen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Harkonnen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Gracie bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Harkonnen has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Gracie should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Harkonnen has tightened it up now! Gracie should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
