Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Alfonso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carolus Rex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alfonso wants to clinch up but Rex keeps it at a distance.

Rex fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Alfonso to the ground. Rex is now in Alfonso's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Rex drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rex jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Alfonso is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

You can see the frustration on Alfonso's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Rex has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Alfonso has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

That's time! Alfonso's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Alfonso's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Rex connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Alfonso scrambles back to his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
