PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jonny Chapman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Theodor Maresio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Theodor Maresio was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jonny Chapman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Theodor Maresio!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maresio moves forwards but Chapman connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Chapman throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Maresio.
Maresio fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
A jab from Chapman finds it's way through Maresio's defenses.
Chapman tries to close the distance and clinch but Maresio swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Chapman throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Maresio looking to score a takedown here. Chapman is defending well but Maresio drives through and ends up in Chapman's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Chapman isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Maresio stacks Chapman on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Maresio!
Maresio looks up at the clock and then as Chapman takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Maresio smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Maresio has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Chapman's face.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Maresio postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Chapman looks a forlorn figure.

Maresio is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Chapman to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Chapman shrugs it off.
Chapman's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Chapman lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Maresio circles away quickly and effectively.
Maresio throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Horrible takedown by Maresio or perhaps it was just good defense by Chapman which made him look bad.
Maresio doesn't manage to clinch there - Chapman circles away.
Chapman throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Maresio counters with a nice low kick that buckles Chapman's knee momentarily.

Chapman connects with a single shot there.
Chapman throws a series of punches but Maresio avoids them all with ease.
Chapman tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Maresio explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Chapman drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Maresio dives on top into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
