The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yuuki Gou and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Speer ducks under a wild hook from Dwyer.
Speer throws a lazy right hand but Dwyer sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Speer leaves Dwyer with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Speer stuns Dwyer with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Dwyer rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Speer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Speer throws a body punch but Dwyer moves out of range.
A big left from Dwyer misses.
Dwyer shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Speer is trying to defend but Dwyer finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Dwyer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Speer avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Dwyer.
Dwyer is trying to control the action in half guard but Speer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Speer is trying to stand back up but Dwyer is controlling him

Dwyer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Speer keeps working.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Dwyer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Speer can do anything to dispel that myth.

Dwyer lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Speer looks gassed!
Dwyer is nestled in close to Speer, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Speer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dwyer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dwyer slips a nice elbow through Speer's hands, connecting with Speer's forehead.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dwyer lands a nice short elbow.

Dwyer winds up and cracks Speer with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
