The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cass fails in his attempt to clinch.

Cass tries to close the distance and clinch up but Abbott swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jeffrey Cass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Abbott instigates a clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Abbott looking to throw knees to the head but Cass is blocking nicely.

Cass connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cass drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Abbott can do anything to dispel that myth.
Abbott is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Cass is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Abbott knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Cass thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Abbott takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Cass has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Cass looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Cass gets a takedown into half guard.
Cass is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Abbott pushes Cass off looking to stand but Cass dives back in and keeps control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Cass seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Abbott is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jeffrey Cass!
Jeffrey Cass decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
