Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rege Visconti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michael Shaw has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw fails with a takedown attempt.
Visconti could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Shaw seems to be working for a kimura but Visconti defends the submission attempt.

Visconti is looking to stand up but Shaw isn't so interested in that idea.

Shaw has gone for a leg lock! Visconti slips out almost immediately though and dives into Shaw's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shaw has his foot on Visconti's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Visconti works his way back into a safe position though.
Visconti wants to pass the guard but Shaw is keeping the position.

Visconti not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Visconti's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Visconti wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shaw keeps working.

and Visconti counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Shaw's guard now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Shaw can't keep his opponent in guard - Visconti advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Rege Visconti overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Shaw tries to improve position but can't.

Shaw is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Visconti's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Visconti's back!

Visconti is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Shaw gets his way!
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Visconti here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Shaw is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Visconti has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
