Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edwards has chosen Machine Head - From This Day as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marcus Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eddie Edwards!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones blocks a jab.
Edwards just misses with a punch to the body.
Edwards tries to bum rush Jones with a series of wild strikes but Jones uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Edwards.
Jones moves out of range of the body kick.
Edwards throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Eddie Edwards seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Edwards circles away.
Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.

Jones rushes Edwards and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Edwards accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Edwards is working Jones over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Edwards defends it easily.
Jones has momentary wrist control but Edwards slips an elbow through the middle.

Edwards wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Edwards is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Jones tries to keep at a distance but Edwards has taken the fight into the clinch.
Edwards creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Edwards misses with an elbow strike.
Edwards is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Jones is defending well.
Edwards tries for a takedown but Jones manages to get underhooks.
Edwards can't get the takedown.
Marcus Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddie Edwards.

Edwards jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jones walks away with a smile on his face. Edwards gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Jones lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Jones rushes Edwards and presses him up against the cage.
Jones avoids the elbow strike from Edwards, against the cage.
Jones has had enough of the clinch but Edwards keeps him there for the moment.

Edwards gets control of Jones's arms and successfully pulls guard. Edwards will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Jones throws a big right hand that misses.
Jones seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Jones stands and steps away. Edwards gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Edwards has a takedown stuffed.
Jones throws a series of punches but Edwards moves out of range.

Jones tries to clinch there but Edwards circles away.
Edwards wants to clinch.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Edwards pushes him off.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Edwards swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Edwards throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Edwards tightens his grip and picks Jones up, before dumping him to the ground. Jones manages to land in guard.

Edwards would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That was a close second round but I would say that Marcus Jones will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Jones blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Jones wants to stall.
Edwards is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Edwards has a couple of punches blocked by Jones.
Jones tries to break free but Edwards pushes him back against the cage.

Edwards has Jones pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Edwards pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Jones tumbling to the mat - Edwards dives into Jones's guard.
Edwards takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jones wants to sweep but no luck.
Edwards wants to stand and escape but instead Jones has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Jones decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Jones is looking to clinch but Edwards is avoiding it.

Edwards throws a lazy right hand but Jones sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Marcus Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Edwards circles away quickly and effectively.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Edwards is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Jones pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Edwards dodges the punch combination from Jones.
Jones misses with a jab, cross combination.
Edwards tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.
Edwards misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Jones staying out of range there.
Jones sizes up Edwards with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

and Jones counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Jones throws a right hand that Edwards ducks under and follows up with a left that Edwards also avoids with ease.
Edwards tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from Edwards.

Edwards gets in close and instigates a clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Eddie Edwards comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Edwards has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
