Smith has chosen Redman - Da goodness as his entrance music. Frank Smith told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Smith!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Contini at a distance.
A chopping leg kick lands by Contini.
Smith fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Contini drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Smith ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Contini tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smith was well out of range. Poor timing from Contini.
Smith misses with the combination.
Smith swings widly with a right hand
and Contini counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Contini scores with a hook to the body. Smith takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
The fighters circling - Smith throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Smith blocks a leg kick.

Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Contini is squirming around, avoiding Smith's attempts to control the action.
Smith raining down shots from the mount!
Smith lands with some strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Contini wants to control but Smith is having none of it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Smith working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Contini looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Smith! Submission of the night perhaps?
