Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clay French (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Guido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paulo Guido has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Clay French's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guido throws a leg kick but French sees it coming and checks it nicely.

French lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Guido backs up against the cage.
Guido tries a head kick but it misses.
Guido misses the shot to the body.

Guido stuffs the takedown attempt from French. French gets slowly back to his feet.
French shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

French changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Guido tries to avoid it but French manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Guido to the ground. Guido escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Guido tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but French paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Paulo Guido seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

French postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Guido is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of French, into his guard.
Guido really doesn't want to stay on the ground with French. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now French is on top in guard.
Guido is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

French is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Guido is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Guido has escaped and now he's on top!

Guido wants to get up but he can't break French's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

French has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Guido can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Paulo Guido wasn't active enough on the ground.

No joy there for French, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That was a close round but I would say that Clay French will probably get the nod.

French has his foot on Guido's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Guido works his way back into a safe position though.

French isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Guido stacks French on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Guido!
French is looking to regain half guard here but Guido keeps moving and retains side control.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Paulo Guido hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

French jumps guard and drags Guido to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

French escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Guido gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
French can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Guido controls the pace.
