PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hasan Husin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tapo Naga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tapo Naga struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hasan Husin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tapo Naga!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Naga tries to close the distance and clinch up but Husin swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Husin gets a double leg takedown into Naga's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Naga wants to sweep here but Husin controlling him for the moment.
Husin trying to control the position from guard on top but Naga is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Husin sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Naga looking to hit a scissor sweep but Husin is one step ahead there.

Naga keeping moving, preventing Husin from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hasan Husin wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Naga fails with the takedown.

Naga throws a head kick but Husin moves out of range.
Husin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Husin closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Naga did well to prevent Husin getting side control.

Husin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Naga is defending against the submission attempts here by Husin.

Husin wants to pass to mount but Naga is defending the position.
Husin is looking to stall here but Naga recovers full guard.

Husin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Naga looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Naga looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Naga!
Husin is not content to let Naga control the position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Husin tries to bench press Naga off him but Naga keeps the position.

Husin throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Sloppy strikes there by Naga.
Husin sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Husin is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Naga pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Naga tries to pass the half guard into mount. Husin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Naga not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Husin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Naga's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Naga's back!

Husin is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Naga is defending well though. Husin let's go of the attempt for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Husin is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Naga has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Naga shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Husin's guard.

Husin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Naga can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Naga got a little sloppy there for a moment and Husin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Naga has managed to get both his arms back between Husin's legs - danger averted.

Husin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Naga doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Naga manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Husin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Naga gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Husin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Naga defends well.

Hasan Husin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Husin has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Naga off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Naga is breathing heavily.
Naga tries to improve position but can't.

Husin lands a decent elbow from side control.
Husin has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Naga!

Naga has left one of his arms exposed and Husin doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Naga screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hasan Husin!
Hasan Husin was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
