PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richard Burgess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Padraig O Hare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Richard Burgess has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Richard Burgess seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 1, fighting out of London, Richard Burgess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Padraig O Hare!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Burgess closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming O Hare to the mat! O Hare manages to get full guard.
O Hare pulls Burgess in close to his closed guard and prevents Burgess from doing any damage or advancing position.

O Hare has his foot on Burgess's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burgess works his way back into a safe position though.
Burgess trying to control but O Hare is working from the bottom.
Burgess controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Burgess avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Burgess with a nice head shot there.
O Hare keeping moving, preventing Burgess from controlling successfully.

Burgess got a little sloppy there for a moment and O Hare has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Burgess has managed to get both his arms back between O Hare's legs - danger averted.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

O Hare has his foot on Burgess's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burgess works his way back into a safe position though.

O Hare is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Burgess is aware though and is defending well.
Burgess stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. O Hare swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Burgess wants to control from the top but O Hare keeps moving.
Burgess is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Burgess throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as O Hare works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Burgess wants to stand and escape but instead O Hare has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
O Hare wants to pass the guard but Burgess is keeping the position.
Burgess looking to hit a scissor sweep but O Hare is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

O Hare loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
O Hare pushing down on Burgess's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
O Hare moves nicely into side control.
Burgess is trying to control O Hare's posture but O Hare avoids it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
O Hare passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Burgess!

O Hare is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Burgess has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Burgess!

O Hare has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Burgess can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

O Hare preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Burgess is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! O Hare is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! O Hare has escaped and now he's on top!
O Hare wants to control from the top but Burgess keeps moving.

O Hare in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Padraig O Hare hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

O Hare shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Burgess napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
O Hare wants to take a breather but Burgess manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for O Hare.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Padraig O Hare dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Padraig O Hare seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Burgess avoids a punch combination nicely.

Burgess closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Burgess lands in his opponent's guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Richard Burgess will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
