PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fernado Tavares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tauno Tuning (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tavares comes to the cage accompanied by All Of The Lights. Tauno Tuning will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fernado Tavares!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tauno Tuning!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Alan Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tuning tries to bum rush Tavares with a series of wild strikes but Tavares uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sloppy strikes from Tuning. Those never looked like landing.
Some wild striking there from Tuning.
Tuning connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Tuning swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Tuning scores with a jab. Tavares acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Tuning cracks Tavares with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

It looks like Fernado Tavares has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tuning connects with a single shot there.
Tavares shoots for a takedown but Tuning saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Tuning dips to his left and cracks Tavares with an uppercut!
Tuning tries to bum rush Tavares with a series of wild strikes but Tavares uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A punch combination from Tuning misses.
Tavares doesn't manage to clinch there - Tuning circles away.

Tavares darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Tavares will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Tavares is working for a submission of some sort.
Tuning is in trouble now - Tavares has advanced to mount!

Tuning is in all sorts of trouble here.

Tavares jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Tuning manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tuning is looking to regain half guard here but Tavares keeps moving and retains side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tuning is trying to escape the position but Tavares is controlling the position.
Tuning regains half guard.
Tuning gets back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tuning is on top in guard.
Tuning throwing strikes from guard but Tavares blocks nicely.
Tuning wants to pass the guard but Tavares is keeping the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tavares is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tuning defends well.
Tuning working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Tuning throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tuning keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Tuning will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Tuning dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Tuning scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Tauno Tuning is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tuning moves into range and connects with a jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tuning cracks Tavares with a right hand to the side of the head.
Tuning throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Tavares stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Tuning measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Tavares! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!

In his post fight interview, Tauno Tuning started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
