Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bret Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hart has chosen The Sharpshooter as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bret Hart!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hart swivels and escapes.
Hart shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mir sprawls well. Mir wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hart gets slowly back to his feet.
Mir misses with a body shot.
Hart fails to land the takedown.
Mir keeps Hart at a distance using the push kick.
Hart looks gassed!
Hart blocks a head kick by Mir.
Hart walks forward, straight into a front kick from Mir.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mir fails in his attempt to clinch.

Mir manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hart on his heels. He'll look to pass Hart's guard now, I'm sure.
Mir works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mir in particular looking to stall.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mir lands a nice short elbow.
Mir takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mir seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Frank Mir just wasn't active enough.
Hart avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Mir tries to sprawl but Hart drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Mir is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Mir trying to hold on to Hart's head to control him but Hart postures up.

Mir tries to kick Hart off but Hart keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Mir is controlling Hart's position as best he can from this difficult position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Mir is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mir misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bret Hart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mir looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mir tries for a takedown but Hart sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Hart is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mir is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hart to the mat. Hart regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Mir slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Mir feints and as Hart raises his hands in defense, Mir changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mir lands a couple of digs.
Mir postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mir is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Mir throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hart works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Frank Mir has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Mir leaves Hart with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hart takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hart gets tackled into the cage by Mir. Mir maintains the clinch.

Mir has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hart regains guard immediately.
Mir wants to pass the guard but Hart is keeping the position.
Mir wants to control from the top but Hart keeps moving.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Frank Mir.

Mir closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hart's guard.

Mir is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Mir is really struggling to control Hart but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Mir fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Mir stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Mir clinches up with Hart and pushes him back against the cage.
Hart has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mir avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Frank Mir has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bret Hart.

Mir breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mir tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hart shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mir defends it nicely.

Mir closes the distance and pushes Hart back into the cage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hart fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Frank Mir is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Hart tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Hart throws a punch but it's blocked by Mir.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frank Mir showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mir has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Frank Mir rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
