PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Chainsaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Keyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jason Chainsaw had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 171.3lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Chainsaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Keyes!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chainsaw lunges at Keyes with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Keyes's hand.
Keyes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Chainsaw circles away.
Keyes tries to clinch but Chainsaw is having none of it.
No joy there for Chainsaw, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Keyes fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Keyes shoots for a double leg takedown but Chainsaw sprawls well. He's pushed Keyes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jason Chainsaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Keyes.
Keyes tries a head kick but it misses.
Keyes fails with an attempt to clinch.
Chainsaw scores with a nice strike.
Chainsaw lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Chainsaw.
The fight stays on the outside here - Keyes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Keyes closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chainsaw did well to prevent Keyes getting side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chainsaw misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Keyes content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Keyes's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ryan Keyes was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Chainsaw takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Keyes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Chainsaw is fending him off so far but Keyes persists. Nope, Chainsaw circles away and we're back to standing.
Keyes takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A shot to the liver by Chainsaw. Beautiful body shot.
Keyes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chainsaw swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Chainsaw throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Keyes instigates a clinch.
Keyes looking for a takedown.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Keyes.
Keyes leaning his opponent against the cage.
Chainsaw is trying to push Keyes away but Keyes has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Keyes has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Chainsaw avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Chainsaw wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Keyes manages to break the clinch.
Jason Chainsaw is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chainsaw scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Keyes fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Chainsaw, pushing him back against the cage.
A short body shot lands from Chainsaw as the two fighters clinch.
Keyes looks gassed!

Keyes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Keyes goes for a takedown attempt but Chainsaw pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Chainsaw lands with an overhand left.
Ryan Keyes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chainsaw lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Keyes circles away quickly and effectively.
Chainsaw lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Keyes drives through with a takedown into Chainsaw's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Keyes sitting in guard here, content to control.
Chainsaw looking for a sweep. Not yet Chainsaw, not yet.
Keyes passes Chainsaw's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Keyes sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Chainsaw defending well though.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Keyes uses his free foot to push down on Chainsaw's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Chainsaw.

Keyes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Keyes working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Keyes takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Keyes slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Keyes connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Chainsaw to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Chainsaw swats away the attempt to clinch by Keyes.
Keyes wants to clinch.
Keyes tries to clinch up but Chainsaw circles away and keeps his distance.
Keyes lands a jab to Chainsaw's midsection.

Keyes tries to score a body lock takedown but Chainsaw shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Keyes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Keyes clinches up with Chainsaw and pushes him back against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Keyes takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Keyes wants the takedown. Chainsaw is fighting it off but Keyes persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Chainsaw's guard against the cage.

Ryan Keyes has got the better of the ground game so far.

Keyes stands and steps away. Chainsaw gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Keyes wants to clinch.
Chainsaw displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Keyes.
Nice body punch from Keyes.
Keyes tries for a takedown but Chainsaw sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jason Chainsaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Keyes.
Keyes is breathing heavily.
Keyes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chainsaw sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Keyes somewhat.
Chainsaw misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Sloppy strikes from Chainsaw. Those never looked like landing.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Keyes is defended easily by Chainsaw.
Chainsaw stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Chainsaw scores with a nice strike.
Chainsaw works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Jason Chainsaw is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Keyes tries to close the distance and clinch but Chainsaw swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Chainsaw scores with a nice right hand.
Keyes throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Keyes showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Chainsaw.
Nice uppercut lands for Chainsaw. That snapped Keyes's head back.
Chainsaw goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Keyes feints and as Chainsaw raises his hands in defense, Keyes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Keyes controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Chainsaw is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Keyes passes Chainsaw's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Keyes lands a nice short elbow.
Keyes winds up and cracks Chainsaw with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Chainsaw trying to get back to full guard but Keyes takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Keyes looking to control and managing it successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Keyes quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Keyes but it's paid off an Chainsaw is forced to tap! Nice work by Keyes.
