Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Derrick Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rua comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Don't Talk To Strangers kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derrick Morgan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

19 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pedro Rua!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgan takes a swing at Rua's ribcage but misses.
Rua moves forwards but Morgan connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Morgan cracks Rua with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Rua has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Morgan.
Morgan throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Donk. Rua catches Morgan right on the button with a cross.
Rua takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Rua closes this distance looking for a takedown but Morgan circles away.
Rua tries to work over Morgan's front leg with a kick but Morgan checks it.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Rua crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Morgan - the referee stops the clock and Rua gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Morgan. Rua manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Morgan tries a low kick but Rua avoids it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Morgan delivers a nice body kick.
Morgan misses with a jab, cross combination.
A nice leg kick lands there from Morgan.
Rua misses with an attempted mid kick.
Morgan throws a chopping leg kick but Rua manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Morgan looks for the body kick but Rua saw that one coming.
Morgan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Rua cracks Morgan with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Rua keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Morgan misses with a lunging right hand
and Rua holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Morgan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Morgan connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Morgan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Rua sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Morgan lands with a thumping leg kick.
Morgan just misses with a punch to the body.
Morgan lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Derrick Morgan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Morgan tries to land a leg kick but Rua saw it coming and moves away.
Rua lands a two punch combo.
It looks like Derrick Morgan has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rua misses with a double jab.
Morgan takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Morgan throws a shot to the body.
Morgan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rua throws a sloppy head kick and Morgan moves out of range easily.
Morgan thuds his shin into the meat of Rua's side.

Rua tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Morgan swivels and escapes.
Morgan throws a sloppy body shot
and Rua counters with a two punch combo.
Morgan scores with a jab to the jaw.
Rua throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Morgan lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rua backs up against the cage.
Morgan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rua was well out of range. Poor timing from Morgan.
Rua lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A jab from Rua finds it's way through Morgan's defenses.
Morgan misses with a two punch combination.
Morgan throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Morgan checks a low kick from Rua.
Morgan throws a push kick but Rua slaps the foot to one side.
Morgan moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Morgan misses with a few strikes there.
Rua checks a leg kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Morgan takes a jab right on the kisser.
Morgan is rocked!
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Rua prevents a body shot from Morgan.
Morgan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rua tries to land a front kick but Morgan steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Rua lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Morgan can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Rua and Morgan drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Rua.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pedro Rua!
