The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zakharov moves away from the strike by Kramer.
Cyril Zakharov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Zakharov wants to stand but Kramer is controlling his posture from full guard.

Kramer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kramer tries to get out of the position.
Kramer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Damian Kramer has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Kramer throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Zakharov was covering up waiting for the punch and Kramer finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kramer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Kramer drops back looking for a leg! Zakharov is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Zakharov manages to kick Kramer off! Kramer jumps back into Zakharov's guard.

Kramer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kramer keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Zakharov's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Zakharov wants to stand and escape but Kramer is having none of it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kramer's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
