Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Omori!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Nasri!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Omori tries to clinch but Nasri is having none of it.
Omori doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Nasri counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Nasri is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Nasri passes into side control, despite Omori's attempt to control the position.
Omori is pushing Nasri's head away, looking to escape. Nasri manages to hold on to the position though.

Nasri takes a little break here. Omori wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Omori tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Alex Nasri hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Nasri throws a right and a left that both miss.

Nasri avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Omori pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nasri shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Omori but Omori pushes him off and we're back to square one.

so Nasri counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Let's hope that Nasri has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Omori motions for Nasri to come forward. Omori throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Nasri is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Omori shoots and misses

and Nasri counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Nasri gets to his feet. Omori looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Nasri counters with a nice double leg into side control. Omori won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee asks Nasri politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Nasri prefers to stall for the moment though.

Nasri is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Nasri is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Omori doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nasri.

Alex Nasri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Omori feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Nasri's calf.

Omori throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nasri was covering up waiting for the punch and Omori finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Nasri fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Omori manages to avoid it.
Omori is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Nasri has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Omori tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nasri sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Omori somewhat.
