PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Orelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Antonio Orelly will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jim Sosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Antonio Orelly!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Valeri Chadov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Sosa.
Orelly tries to improve position but can't.

and Sosa counters with a single leg into guard. Orelly didn't expect that.

Sosa is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Orelly's half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sosa is looking to stall here but Orelly recovers full guard.

Sosa escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Orelly gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sosa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Orelly slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Orelly passes Sosa's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Orelly had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sosa defends it easily.
Sosa tries to stand but Orelly is controlling from the bottom.

Sosa is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Orelly holds on and takes a little breather.

Sosa wants to stand but Orelly has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Sosa throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Orelly works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Sosa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Orelly swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Orelly wants to sweep but no luck.
Sosa wants to control from the top but Orelly keeps moving.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Sosa is stalling in the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jim Sosa.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sosa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
