The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curtis tries a low kick but Ortiz avoids it.

Curtis fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ortiz has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ortiz enables Curtis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ortiz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Curtis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ortiz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Curtis has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ortiz is proving hard to escape from.
