PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sandor Clegane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Darrens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clegane comes to the cage accompanied by Goodbye. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sandor Clegane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Darrens!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darrens throws a right and a left that Clegane avoids nicely.

Clegane closes the distance and clinches.

Clegane has picked Darrens up - he's going for a ride! Clegane dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Darrens trying to hold on to Clegane's head to control him but Clegane postures up.
Darrens is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Darrens kicks Clegane off and gets back to his feet.

Darrens closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Clegane did well to prevent Darrens getting side control.
Darrens moves nicely into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Clegane is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Darrens off and has taken his back!
Clegane not allowing Darrens to control his hands.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Clegane connects with a big shot to the side of Darrens's head.

Darrens is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Clegane gets his way!
Darrens is really stuck here.
Clegane is trying to stick to Darrens's back but Darrens is turning into Clegane. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Clegane's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Darrens.

Darrens stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Clegane shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Darrens but Darrens pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Clegane bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Darrens's head.


It looks like Jason Darrens has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Darrens changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Clegane looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Darrens working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Clegane can't do much from the bottom here.
Darrens landing a few strikes.
Darrens tries to advance to mount but Clegane denies him.
Clegane is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Darrens off and has taken his back!
Clegane has Darrens flattened out and is raining down punches.

Darrens preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Clegane.
Darrens wants to escape the position but for the time being he's just trying to control the pace.
Darrens looks gassed!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Clegane trying to control momentarily.
Clegane wants to control but Darrens manages to buck him off and is now in Clegane's guard! Nice work there by Darrens!
Darrens stays in close to Clegane's body and controls the position.
Clegane looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Darrens trying to control the position from guard on top but Clegane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jason Darrens was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Clegane darts in and clinches Darrens up against the cage.

Clegane has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Darrens clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Clegane is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Darrens up.
Darrens tries to escape but Clegane has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Clegane is punishing Darrens with some ground and pound.


That has opened up Jason Darrens's cut even more.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Clegane is landing with strikes from the back.


Jason Darrens's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jason Darrens's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Sandor Clegane!
In his post fight interview, Sandor Clegane started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
