PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Virt Hickel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lewis misses with a takedown attempt
and Hickel counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Lewis thinking.

and Hickel counters with a head kick.
Virt Hickel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Lewis.

Hickel closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hickel lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hickel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Lewis is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Lewis is working to avoid the ground and pound but Hickel connects with a decent elbow.

Lewis is not content to let Hickel control the position.

Hickel scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Lewis is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Hickel can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
