PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kamil Stachu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yonasu Yamazaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stachu comes into the arena with Nickelback-Fight for all the Wrong Reasons blaring out of the sound system. Yamazaki has chosen Vangelis - conquest of paradise as his entrance music. Kamil Stachu has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kamil Stachu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yonasu Yamazaki!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamazaki doesn't manage to clinch there - Stachu circles away.
Yamazaki tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Stachu counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Yamazaki is controlling Stachu's trapped leg to prevent Stachu from advancing to side control.
Yamazaki pushes Stachu off looking to stand but Stachu dives back in and keeps control.
Yamazaki wants to control but Stachu passes into side.
Yamazaki tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Stachu wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Stachu wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Yamazaki, who protects the arm well.

A lull in the action here as Stachu stalls from top position.
You can see the frustration on Yamazaki's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Stachu wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yamazaki keeps working.

Stachu is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Yamazaki knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Yamazaki tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Stachu is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Yamazaki is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Yamazaki sneaks out the side door and pushes Stachu away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Yamazaki gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Stachu counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Yamazaki!
Stachu prevents Yamazaki from getting the reversal.
Yamazaki manages to regain half guard. Good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stachu sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Stachu wants to control the pace but Yamazaki is squirming around nicely.
Stachu works his way to his opponent's back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stachu is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stachu looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Yamazaki is fending him off so far but Stachu persists. Nope, Yamazaki circles away and we're back to standing.

Kamil Stachu overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Stachu is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Yamazaki is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Yamazaki has escaped and now he's on top!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Yamazaki should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Yamazaki doesn't manage to clinch there - Stachu circles away.
Stachu gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Kamil Stachu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Yamazaki fails with an attempt to clinch.
Yamazaki rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Stachu moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Yonasu Yamazaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Yonasu Yamazaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Yamazaki feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Stachu's calf.
