The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Medeiros wants to clinch up but Janowicz keeps it at a distance.

Medeiros throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Janowicz stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Medeiros follows into mount!

It looks like Jan Janowicz has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Medeiros defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Janowicz.
Medeiros blocks the body kick.
Medeiros tries to clinch up but Janowicz circles away and keeps his distance.
Medeiros swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Janowicz shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Janowicz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Medeiros doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Janowicz.

Janowicz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Medeiros is just riding it out for now. Janowicz eventually gives up the hold.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
