The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Funktastic circles away from the clinch attempt
letting Funktastic counter with a right hand.
Funktastic fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Hellwig tries to clinch but Funktastic is having none of it.
Funktastic is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hellwig.
Hellwig is looking to clinch but Funktastic is avoiding it.
Hellwig closes this distance looking for a takedown but Funktastic circles away.

James Hellwig seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hellwig motions for Funktastic to come forward. Hellwig throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Funktastic throws a hook but Hellwig avoids it easily.

Nice takedown defense from Funktastic. No joy for Hellwig on that attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hellwig is defended easily by Funktastic.
Mr Funktastic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Hellwig.
Funktastic will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Hellwig tries to clinch there but Funktastic circles away.
A left and a right from Funktastic both land. Nice combination.
Hellwig moves out of range as Funktastic strikes.

Funktastic feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
