Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timur Rafkatovich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gordon Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Timur Rafkatovich has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Timur Rafkatovich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gordon Lee!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rafkatovich moves away.
Lee throws a leg kick

so Rafkatovich counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rafkatovich is one step ahead there.
Lee has control of Rafkatovich's left arm, preventing Rafkatovich from doing any damage.
Let's hope that Lee has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Lee keeping moving, preventing Rafkatovich from controlling successfully.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lee fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rafkatovich avoids it really well and circles away.
Rafkatovich closes the distance but Lee moves to the side
letting Lee counter with a right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rafkatovich is looking to clinch but Lee is avoiding it.

Rafkatovich tries to keep at a distance but Lee has taken the fight into the clinch.
Rafkatovich prevents a takedown attempt there.
A head punch on the inside from Rafkatovich fails to land.
Lee has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Lee jumps into guard, dragging Rafkatovich to the mat.

Rafkatovich stands and steps away. Lee gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Lee shoots for a double leg takedown but Rafkatovich sprawls well. He's pushed Lee's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Timur Rafkatovich has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gordon Lee.
A solid leg kick lands there for Rafkatovich.
Lee shoots in for a takedown but Rafkatovich shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Rafkatovich moves into the clinch.
Rafkatovich could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Rafkatovich tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Lee just stands there and leans against the cage.

Lee has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rafkatovich uses from the top position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Rafkatovich working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Lee seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

We're going to have a standup here because Timur Rafkatovich wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Rafkatovich tries to clinch but Lee moves away

and Lee counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lee.
Lee has Rafkatovich pressed against the cage, preventing Rafkatovich from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Lee successfully pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rafkatovich decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lee, up you get!
Rafkatovich misses with a takedown attempt - Lee sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Lee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lee wants it to stay on the feet.
Lee shoots in and drives through. Rafkatovich sprawls well.

Lee looks to land a body kick but Rafkatovich moved away.
Lee misses with a two punch combination.
Rafkatovich blocks a head kick by Lee.
Rafkatovich stuffs the takedown.
Rafkatovich fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lee is defended easily by Rafkatovich.
Lee throws a head kick that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Timur Rafkatovich will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Rafkatovich pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Lee fails with a takedown attempt.
Rafkatovich walks into a stiff left hand from Lee.
Lee shoots for a takedown but Rafkatovich saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rafkatovich fails with the takedown.
Lee tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rafkatovich sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lee somewhat.

and Rafkatovich counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lee's knee momentarily.

Lee looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rafkatovich is fending him off so far but Lee persists. Nope, Rafkatovich circles away and we're back to standing.

No luck for Rafkatovich with that takedown attempt.
Rafkatovich pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
A low kick from Lee is predictable there
and Rafkatovich counters with a thumping low kick.
Lee misses with a head kick.
Rafkatovich fails with a takedown attempt.
Lee tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Rafkatovich is able to avoid easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gordon Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Rafkatovich throws a leg kick which misses Lee's front leg but catches the back leg as Lee tries to avoid it.
Lee stuffs the takedown attempt from Rafkatovich. Rafkatovich gets slowly back to his feet.
Lee swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rafkatovich closes the distance looking to clinch
and Lee connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lee shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rafkatovich but Rafkatovich pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Lee has Rafkatovich up against the cage in a clinch.
Rafkatovich is trying to force a seperation but Lee has the dominant position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rafkatovich is trying to push Lee away but Lee has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Lee gets control of Rafkatovich's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lee will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Lee has Rafkatovich pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rafkatovich manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Lee is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Rafkatovich gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Rafkatovich is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lee to keep the fight standing.

Rafkatovich loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Rafkatovich stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lee swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lee wants to get back to his feet but Rafkatovich is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gordon Lee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lee has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
