Zat's entrance music is Open your eyes by Alter Bridge. A fine choice. Johnson is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: lunatic fringe. Michael Johnson is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gabriel Zat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Zat connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Johnson scrambles back to his feet.

Johnson has Zat up against the cage in a clinch.
Zat drops down looking for an ankle pick but Johnson pulls his leg out and moves away.
No luck for Zat with that takedown attempt.
Johnson lands a head shot.
Zat scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Johnson fails with a takedown attempt.
Zat cracks a nice hook into Johnson's ribs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Johnson.

Gabriel Zat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Johnson.
Zat shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Johnson as he avoids it easily.
Johnson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Zat closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Zat pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Zat keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Zat looks to land a combination but Johnson avoids it well.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Zat tries to roll over but Johnson keeps him under control.
Zat gets full guard.
Johnson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Zat wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Johnson manages to pass to side control.

Johnson is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We're going to have a standup here because Gabriel Zat wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Johnson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Johnson cracks Zat with a big right hand but Zat just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Zat is looking to regain half guard here but Johnson keeps moving and retains side control.

Michael Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Zat shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A decent looking cross lands there for Zat.
Zat throws a right hand that Johnson ducks under and follows up with a left that Johnson also avoids with ease.
Zat displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Johnson throws out the jab.

Johnson shoots in and bounces Zat off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Zat wants to control the position but Johnson says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Johnson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Johnson is trying to control the action in half guard but Zat is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Zat is looking to get back to is feet but Johnson passes into side control.
Johnson takes a little break here. Zat wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Johnson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Johnson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
