Marx has chosen Athkatla as his entrance music. Aiden Marx has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Bareris Anskuld's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Marx.
Anskuld dives in and grabs Marx's left leg, looking for a takedown. Marx pushes down on Anskuld's head and hops out.

Anskuld drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Marx wants to stand up but Anskuld is controlling him.
Anskuld advances position into side control!
Marx tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Anskuld is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Marx knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marx tries to lock up and control but Anskuld gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Marx can do anything to dispel that myth.

Anskuld has hold of Marx's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Marx manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Marx is wriggling around trying to escape.

Anskuld looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Anskuld misses with a head shot.

Anskuld jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Marx is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Marx and Anskuld has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Anskuld is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Marx is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Marx works Anskuld's body with a nice hook.

Bareris Anskuld seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marx tries to close the distance and clinch but Anskuld swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The fight stays on the outside here - Marx looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Anskuld lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Marx circles away quickly and effectively.

Aiden Marx is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Anskuld counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Anskuld throws out a loose jab but Marx uses good head movement to avoid it.
Anskuld looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Anskuld lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Anskuld.

Marx throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Anskuld sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Marx throws a hook but Anskuld blocks it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Marx pounces like a tiger and cracks Anskuld with a vicious hook! Anskuld is down but not out! Marx follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
